CBC and Corus Entertainment Personalities Set to Present at the 2016 CCMA Awards Show Alongside Country Stars and Olympians
(Toronto, ON) September 1, 2016 – The Canadian Country Music Association® (CCMA®) and broadcast partners CBC and Corus Entertainment’s CMT (Canada) announced this morning a complete list of presenters set to take the stage at the 2016 CCMA Awards Show on Sunday, September 11 at Budweiser Gardens in London, Ontario. Catch all the action and some of Canada’s biggest names in television and country music live on CBC at 8 p.m. (8:30 p.m. NT), with an encore airing on CMT at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT.
Rio 2016 Team Canada Olympians Melissa Bishop and London’s own Damian Warner will appear as part of the star-studded line-up.
CBC presenters include comedian and actor Jonny Harris, star of Still Standing and Murdoch Mysteries; Heartland’s Alisha Newton; Tom Power, the new host of CBC Radio One’s q, and the four co-hosts of CBC’s highly anticipated new daytime show, The Goods – Steven Sabados, Andrea Bain, Shahir Massoud and 2016 CCMA Awards Show host Jessi Cruickshank who is also the host of Canada`s Smartest Person on CBC. Personalities set to appear on the broadcast from Corus Entertainment’s slew of specialty networks include: Bryan Baeumler, star of HGTV Canada’s new series Bryan Inc.; host of CMT’s Chevy Top 20 Countdown, Paul McGuire; and exterminator extraordinaire, Billy Bretherton of Canadian original series Billy Goes North.
A number of Canada’s favourite country acts will also present CCMA Awards on the broadcast. George Canyon, nominated for Album of the Year and Record Producer(s) of the Year; Kira Isabella, nominated for Female Artist of the Year; and Wes Mack, nominated for Album of the Year and Interactive Artist of the Year, will each present awards. Also set to take to the stage and present is Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame inductee, Murray McLauchlan; Songwriter(s) of the Year nominee, Meghan Patrick; Group or Duo of the Year nominees, The Road Hammers and first-time nominees in four award categories this year, The Washboard Union. Rounding out the Canadian artists presenting on the awards show is Bobby Wills, who is up for Album of the Year, Single of the Year and Songwriters of the Year, as well as multi-CCMA Award winner and member of the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame, Michelle Wright.
Special international guests who will be presenting this year include GRAMMY Award-winning Kristian Bush, and Chris Lane, who’s celebrating his recent #1 single with “Fix”. Kiefer Sutherland, who’s currently touring to promote his new country album, Down In A Hole, will present the CCMA Fans’ Choice Award alongside this year’s Ultimate Fan winner, Jan Harrison.
Eight CCMA Awards will be presented during the 2016 CCMA Awards Show, hosted by Jessi Cruickshank (CBC’s Canada’s Smartest Person and The Goods). An all-star line-up of performers was previously announced, and is available at ccma.org .
