CCMA Seminar Series: Tamara Beatty Workshop
Respect the Hook with Tamara Beatty: What your originals and covers need to compete in international markets.
Hamilton Convention Centre, Webster Room ABC
3:30pm-5:00pm
The best writers know how to write songs that respect the hook. The best producers know how to carve out mixes and craft a track that respects the hook. Why, as singers and performers, are we never told the ways you can respect the hook to honour the song, and deliver a radio or stage-ready performance that reaches national and international markets? There are things songs are doing on the radio, and successful cover videos are doing online, that make them translate to large audiences. The vast majority respect the hook. Tamara Beatty, 12 Season Voice Coach on NBC's The Voice and celebrity voice coach for FOX's new series The Masked Singer, joins Country Music Week this year to share how you can write, perform and cover songs that can translate to national and international markets. Bring in your own music - Tamara will show you how to re-arrange lead vocal lines, develop songs and even approach background vocals to be in-line with the music you love and hear on the radio – all by respecting the hook.
