CCMA Seminar Series: Tamara Beatty Workshop
Hamilton Convention Centre – Webster Room ABC
3:30pm-5:00pm
Country music is all about the story. That’s why so much effort is put into the art and craft of songwriting. And we all know that one of the most important pieces is a solid hook. Many writers even begin with the hook and work backwards from there. But we never really talk about the hook after it’s written. Why? The best writers know how to write songs that respect the hook; the best producers know how to carve out mixes and craft a track that respects the hook. Why, as singers and performers, are we never told the ways you can respect the hook to honor the song and deliver a performance that reaches national and international markets? With eleven seasons experience preparing singers for audiences of roughly 40 million viewers, her experience as a songwriter on LA based Sync Licensing Company Glow Music, and her extensive experience in the studio, Tamara shares the four ways to respect the hook so that you can write songs that really translate to national and international markets. Bring in your own music—Tamara will show you how to re-arrange lead vocal lines, develop the song, and even approach background vocals to be in line with the songs you love and hear on the radio.
