"New
Brunswick's Next Country Star" Contest Announced
(Saint
John, New Brunswick) - Aspiring New Brunswick country performers
could win a showcase opportunity at the 2005 Country Music
Week in Calgary September 9-12 2005. The winner or winners
will also receive a cash prize and return airfare to Calgary
for the event. The contest, organized by the 2006 Saint John
Country Music Week Host Committee, was launched today.
Jan Cody,
President of the CCMA said, "We're excited about showcasing
at Country Music Week 2005 the level of talent they will find
in New Brunswick when we head East in 2006."
Regional
contests are planned in four locations (Saint John, Fredericton,
Bathurst/Edmundston, and Moncton). Winners of each contest
plus one wild card selection will travel to Saint John in
June for the final. Venues and dates for each region will
be announced in April.
Groups
or individuals who are residents of New Brunswick and who
have not been signed by a major record label in the past two
years are eligible. Contest details, applications and rules
and regulations are available through Music New Brunswick
and at participating radio stations.
The contest
is being sponsored by Moosehead Breweries Limited, the Province
of New Brunswick, Music New Brunswick, the Saint John Airport
and Acadia Broadcasting Limited.

said, "We're excited to play a part in bringing the best
of New Brunswick to Calgary".
Saint
John NB will host 2006 Country Music Week from September 8-11,
2006, the year of the Association's 30th anniversary.
